Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®)

Children in grades 6-8 participate the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing in mathematics and reading.  MAP is an untimed computer-adaptive assessment that measures student growth and achievement, independent of grade level or age.  This is one indicator of your child’s progress, providing us an additional piece of information about achievement levels and growth in acquiring reading and mathematics skills.

Fall 2019 MAP testing will begin in October.   We ask that if possible, you try to avoid student absences on these days so your child does not have to test on a make-up day.  Students will test in both English Language Arts (ELA) and math* as follows:

  • 6th grade
    • October 8  - Reading, periods 2 & 3
    • October 16  - Math, Periods 5 & 6

  • 7th grade
    • October 10  - Reading, periods 3 & 4
    • October 17 - Math, periods 6 & 7

  • 8th grade
    • October 11  - Reading, periods 4 & 5
    • October 22 - Math, TBD

*The following students do not take MAP:

  • Students in algebra and geometry do not take the math MAP
  • Students in 8th grade GT ELA do not take reading MAP
