Biweekly Message from Principal Vandenberge 03/03/17

Fri, 03/10/2017 - 1:42pm

Greetings, Lake Elkhorn families:

March already? Hard to believe it, but it’s time for parent-teacher conferences, which will be held on March 9 & 10. Please sign up through HCPSS Connect – further information is included in this newsletter.

We held two very entertaining and inspiring activities here recently to celebrate Black History Month. Last week, Ladies First sponsored our first ever Poetry Slam, led by Ms. Dean. Many students participated in the school wide assembly. On the last day of February, our new BSAP Liaison, Ms. Todd, led a Black History trivia contest. Teachers carried pictures and clues with them and students earned Eagle Bucks for guessing the correct answers. Both teachers and students enjoyed the learning experience.

Finally, our PTSA meeting this month will be held in the media center at Oakland Mills Middle School, at 6:00 pm. The reason for this is that we are joining with OMMS to host the first ever Howard County MultiService Center information night at 6:30 pm at OMMS. The MultiService Center is comprised of 14 different human service agencies, providing easy access to a wide range of resources and support, such as counseling, legal and medical assistance, employment, and many other services. Those in need of services, in addition to anyone who wants to learn more about how to help those in need, are encouraged to attend.

With Eagle PRIDE,

Martin Vandenberge

Principal
