Parent Resource: "Behavior Talks"

Thu, 12/17/2020 - 5:05pm

HCPSS staff have created a series of videos for parents and guardians working to manage student behavior.  The Behavior Talks modules are a series of brief trainings that share useful tips and tricks to promote student success related to behavior, social/emotional needs, or organization/self-management.  Each module also includes a transcript of the video and all slides presented.

Behavior is a form of communication. Understanding why a behavior is happening helps determine strategies to prevent or reduce the recurrence of challenging behavior.  Figuring out “the why” will help determine responses to teach alternative behaviors and skills.

Topics include:

  • Being a Flexible Thinker
  • Breaking Down a Task
  • Giving Feedback and Praise
  • Making A Schedule & Setting Expectations
