10/31/19 Update:

We are so excited for Outdoor Ed next week!  Please review the reminders below as you prepare your child for this amazing adventure!

PACKING LIST

Your students were given a packing list on Tuesday, October 29. Click here to view the packing list.

No medicines should be packed with students attending outdoor ed. Medicines should be taken before students leave, or brought in to the school nurse with the proper medical forms (that should have already been completed). If you bring in medication for the nurse, make sure it is clearly labeled.

Students are only allowed 1 bag. Students can also bring a light drawstring bag or light backpack to bring with them on the bus and during activities throughout their days at ODE.

CABIN LISTS AND T-SHIRTS

Cabin lists will be given to students on Monday morning, November 4.  Students will receive their t-shirts during 7th period on Friday, 11/1.

DROP OFF PROCEDURES

On Monday, November 4, there are two options for luggage drop-off:

·        7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

·        8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.

We kindly ask that you do not drop-off luggage between 8:00 – 8:15 a.m. as this will interfere with the Cradlerock Elementary School (CRES) drop-off. If you arrive between 8:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m., you can expect to wait in very long lines of traffic due to the CRES morning arrival.  Please review the preferred options below for luggage drop-off.

7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Students will be allowed to enter school with their luggage between 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. They must enter the side door by the cafeteria. This area gets extremely congested so we are asking parents/ guardians to “drop and go”.  Because we share the lot with the elementary school and have 165 students attending this field trip, we want to make drop off run as smoothly as possible. We kindly ask you to say your goodbyes at home, and not to get out of your car.  Staff will be outside assisting with luggage and traffic. Thank you for your understanding and support! We also encourage you to carpool if possible, as fewer cars will certainly assist during this busy time.

8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.

If you are not able to drop-off your student and his/her luggage between 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., we still need your child in school on time.  This means your child may the ride the bus to school in the morning, but they are not permitted to bring luggage on the bus with them, as there is not room for their bags.

In order to drop off your child’s luggage, enter the large, side parking lot and drop it off at the side of the building between 8:15 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. Because we share the lot with the elementary school and have 165 students attending this field trip, we want to make drop off run as smoothly as possible. We kindly ask you to say your goodbyes at home, and not get out of your car.  Staff will be outside assisting with luggage and traffic. Thank you for your understanding and support! We also encourage you to carpool if possible, as fewer cars will certainly assist during this busy time.

DROP-OFF REMINDERS:

Please do not drop off luggage between 8:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.  Students attending should go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. Students are only allowed to bring 1 bag. Students can also bring a light drawstring bag or light backpack to bring with them on the bus and during activities throughout their days at North Bay.

PICK UP PROCEDURES

On Wednesday 11/6, students are estimated to return from NorthBay to Lake Elkhorn around 1:30 pm. To help ensure a smooth pick-up, please review the items below:

  • The front parking lot / “bus loop” will close from 11:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. to allow for the students to arrive and unload from the buses when they return.

  • The estimated arrival time back to Lake Elkhorn is 1:30 p.m.  An email notification will be sent out to parents, updating you if there are changes in the arrival time.

  • Parents who are picking up their child should park in the large parking lot on the side of our school. Do not park in the front parking lot / “bus loop”.

  • As students unload from the bus, they will gather on the sidewalk and wait until the luggage is unloaded.

  • Once the students have unloaded and gathered their luggage and buses are clear, the buses will leave the bus lot.

  • Once the buses have left our lot, we will open the bus lot for student pick-up.  The North Bay arrival should not interfere with the normal LEMS or CRES after-school pick-up routine for other students.

  • All students returning from the trip will need to be checked out before leaving school with their parent/guardian, or the other adult some of you designated on the “Alternative Transportation Form”. Staff will be outside to assist with the check-out process.

  • If you would like your child to go home with another parent/guardian, you will need to complete an “Alternative Transportation Form” permitting us to release your child. Click here for another copy of the form. No child will be released to an adult who is not on their emergency contact list with pick-up permission or without signed consent.    Verbal consent is not permitted.

Please note that student pick-up on Wednesday will take more time than the student drop-off on Monday. We will do our best to move quickly, but we want to make sure luggage goes home with the correct student.   We appreciate your continued support and everyone's patience with the traffic, and as we work to ensure an enjoyable outdoor ed experience for everyone!

If you are not able to pick-up your child when we return from camp, your child can remain at school and ride the bus home. However, your child may not be able to bring luggage on the school bus. Please be sure to arrive to school by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon to pick up your child’s luggage or it will be held overnight.

Finally, be sure to visit Lake Elkhorn’s Twitter or Ms. Shindel’s Instagram for pictures from this amazing field trip!  Thank you for preparing your students for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and a special thank you in advance to our chaperones for spending 3 days with us at North Bay!
