A Message from the Health Room

While it is important for each student to know that they are free to visit the nurse with any health issues, it is also important for them to have an uninterrupted education and to remain in class as much as possible. Please reinforce with your student the importance of minimizing interruptions in their academics.

Fun Fact: The Average Health Room visit from the time the student leaves your classroom to be seen and the time the child returns to class is 13 minutes.

The Health Room Does Not have Vaseline, Lotion, Food, Snacks, Cough Drops, Tylenol, Allergy Medicine, Neosporin or any medication that we can administer unless it was brought to the Health Room by the Parent and we have a Physicians order form.

Students should not be leaving your classroom to come to the Health Room for band aids (each teacher should have band aids if not please contact the Health Room.)

The Following lists are examples of appropriate vs. inappropriate visits to the Health Room”

The only treatment that can be performed in the Health Room is taking a temperature, drinking water and using the bathroom unless we have medication Prescribed by their Physician.

Please encourage student’s to visit the Health Room during their lunch/ recess for non medical issues such as clothing issues, needing belts ect.

Please avoid sending student’s to the Health Room during 7th period unless there is an urgent reason (For Example, bleeding, vomiting, shortness of breath, Physical Injury).  The Health Room is used during that time for Planning.
